First miracle morning

So today I implemented the first miracle morning routine!  It wasn’t perfect, but that’s ok.

I’m reading the book, The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, which you can see here.

I’ll post more about my miracle morning routine once I’ve got it to a point that I’m happy with.

12WBT- Week 1 day 1

Started the morning with the running group at Point Cartwright today. They were running hill sprints but my sore hamstring meant that I was doing circles around the lighthouse for 50 minutes! Lost count of how many laps I did!

The new food plan is going well. Have eaten well today, salad, vegetables, fruit…the biggest challenge I had was after dinner. We eat very early because of the kids, like 5:30pm, so by 7pm I am looking for a snack. Just didn’t have enthusiasm for anything healthy so opted for nothing! Will need to come up with some good healthy snacks or I can see this could be a ‘red flag’ area.

Here is a picture of tonight’s dinner – beef stroganoff with vegetables.

12wbt – Week 1 – Letter to myself

stampThe week 1 challenge is to write a letter to yourself.  So here is mine.

I’m excited to be starting the 12wbt.  Excited to know that in just a few short weeks, even within 2-3 weeks I will be feeling healthier, lighter and just better about myself.  I have been wanting to get started since Christmas time but decided to start with the February round rather than just go it alone and I’m glad that I did as it gave me time to really get my head in the right place for starting, to get Christmas out of the way, to get into a routine for the new year.

My biggest challenges with definitely be maintaining commitment past the 4 week mark and being organised enough to plan and prepare meals that I’ll need to take with me out on the road.  I know that when I get really busy at work then planning and preparation tends to go out the window and so I’ll need to come up with a way this will work for me, even if work is busy.  I will need to overcome this by being prepared.  By organising the weekly food schedule and groceries and by giving myself the time in a week required to prepare health meals.

The achievement that will make me the proudest will be losing 10kg.  My main supporter will definitely be Kylie.  My main saboteur would be me.

Right now, the best words of encouragement I could get would be:

Celebrate the small milestones and keep the goal in mind.  You don’t need to be motivated, you just need to stay committed.  You are one of the most determined people I know and you set yourself goals and achieve them. This is no different. You CAN do it and you WILL do it.

Aunty Buggy

mum-marg-john

My Aunty Marg passed away yesterday, peaceful, in her nursing home, surrounded by her family, including my mum.  She wasn’t that old, but her body had stopped working gradually over many years, and with the death of Uncle Ed just 18 months or so ago, I think she was ready.

The end of a life is sad and it makes you reflect on how brief our time here is.  How we come, we learn, we grow, we build a life, we build a family and eventually we leave and life goes on.   Aunty Buggy, you were loved by many. You built a life and a family and they have and will continue to love you and remember you.

Some memories of Aunty Marg and Uncle Ed:

  • Christmas nights at Aunty Marg’s house
  • Card nights with mum and dad, Aunty Marg and Uncle Ed, Aunty June and Uncle Keith on a Saturday night
  • Saturday nights at ‘Cyclops’ restaurant and then ‘Franks’
  • Your awesome potato salad and pasta salad – both loaded with garlic!
  • Staying at Aunty Marg’s house for 8 weeks when I was in grade 4 whilst mum and dad went overseas
  • Dress up day at school, Aunty Marg made me a ‘Huckleberry Finn’ costume – torn up shorts and t-shirt and a cardboard fish hanging off a fishing rod – perfect for tomboy 7 or 8 year old me
  • Swimming in Aunty Marg’s pool, getting nipped by Wilbur the duck
  • Aunty Marg’s sense of humour
  • Uncle Ed – ‘bloody Carlton!’

The Jar

20140102-221617.jpg

Hoping the love and positivity will rub off on Spencer, who has been a bit on the negative side recently.

I saw some people posting the idea and their images on Facebook, where they contribute each day for a year and then open the jar on New Year’s Eve. Spencer is five, so a year is a long time to wait!

Our plan is that we all contribute something to the jar each night at dinner and then open them all to read at the end of each week.

Starting with gratitude

Running, 6:30am New Year’s Day – Happy Valley, Caloundra

It’s new year’s day and this year I’m starting with gratitude.

I’m grateful for my health. Running and swimming up here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast brings me much happiness. Whenever I need to remember how beautiful life is, I can just head for a run along the beach and it always makes me smile.

I’m grateful for my lovely partner and the wonderful life we have created. I’m looking forward to spending more ‘us’ time this year.

I’m grateful for my two beautiful and healthy children. I’m looking forward to seeing the kids grow and develop and to a time when they may even sleep beyond 5:00am!

I’m grateful for the wonderful business we have created and opportunities this gives us both to work from home, to spend lots of time together and to do something we love and help others in the process. I’m looking forward to seeing the business grow this year substantially this year, bringing on board a focused team who share our vision and passion.

I’m grateful for all the people I meet in life and the lessons I learn from them.

I’m grateful for close friends who share their wisdom, advice and humour. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to pick up the phone and talk to people who listen, understand and make me laugh!

I’m grateful for this amazing place we live in and the healthy, outdoors, water based lifestyle that we have! The Sunshine Coast is amazing!

I’m excited about 2014! Wishing everyone health, happiness and success!

Minimalist personal branding

kazpics

Now, although the last thing I need is another website to maintain and update, I think it’s important to manage a personal brand – hence, KazYoung.com!

I’m most likely to be busily updating folks on my property escapades over at my property investing website, Everyday Property Investing, or my buyer’s agency Property Zest.

I’m very interested in creating businesses, investing in property, helping others to invest in property, running and spending time with my family.  I’m interested in health and fitness, life goals and achievement and on this website I may post about any or all of those things!
